Letter - Some things left for next Legislature to decide

That women have an extra burden to prove ID. A birth certificate won’t be enough if you have had a name change because of marriage.

To the editor:

What they aren’t telling you about the Voter ID Amendment:

1. Exactly what a government-issued approved ID will consist of. That has been left to “the next Legislature to decide.”

2. That women have an extra burden to prove ID. A birth certificate won’t be enough if you have had a name change because of marriage. You will also need to provide a marriage certificate.

3. How much the new provisional ballot system will cost townships, cities, counties and the state. That, too, has been left to “the next Legislature to decide.”
