Glenwood concert series to open with Ensemble 61

Central Square in Glenwood will open the new Concert Series X with a performance by Ensemble 61, an award-winning Minnesota-based group of contemporary classical musicians/composers, named after Highway 61, as a tribute to Bob Dylan.

Central Square in Glenwood will open the new Concert Series X with a performance by Ensemble 61, an award-winning Minnesota-based group of contemporary classical musicians/composers, named after Highway 61, as a tribute to Bob Dylan.

They will perform a concert inspired by water, entitled "Water Music." The works include "Vox Balaena" (Voice of the Whale) for electric flute, electric cello and electric piano.

The five member ensemble is known for new and experimental music. They have been featured by internationally recognized presenters such as the American Academy in Rome, Sonic Fusion Festival in Edinburgh and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.

The concert will be presented on Friday, September 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Historic Auditorium at Central Square.
