Minnesota K-9 search and rescue to offer workshop

Central Lakes Search and Rescue (SAR) of Garfield announce a North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA) training and certification workshop from September 24-28 at Camp Ripley

Central Lakes Search and Rescue (SAR) of Garfield announce a North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA) training and certification workshop from September 24-28 at Camp Ripley.

NAPWDA provides quality training with nationally recognized certifications for K-9 handlers who serve their communities both in the field of law enforcement and as civilian search and rescue volunteers.

Attendees from across the upper Midwest will hone their K-9’s skills in finding missing persons in Camp Ripley’s extensive training facility. The K-9 teams will be challenged by the urban areas on base as well as wide-ranging woods, buildings and even rubble piles provided by Camp Ripley.

In addition to the week of K-9 training, there will also be an evening class geared to K-9 handlers in the law enforcement field.

The police working dog roundtable is Thursday, September 27 beginning at 5:30 p.m. and is a free event, open to all law enforcement and civilian SAR K-9 handlers.

This roundtable will give handlers a chance to talk about their experiences, ask questions and discuss training tips, legal concerns affecting K-9 handlers and even K-9 health information with others who do what they do every day.
