Volleyball: Osakis sweeps Long Prairie-Grey Eagle

A sweep of Long Prairie-Grey Eagle in conference play and a third place finish at the Browerville Invitational Saturday showed Osakis volleyball head coach Kirsten Wessel some important things about her Silverstreak team.

“Our blocking and defense is really improving,” said Wessel of her team’s performance in the tournament. “We served and received very well.”

Osakis had to battle a very strong Bertha-Hewitt team in the match that sent the Silverstreaks to the third place game as they fell 25-22. 25-18 to the Bears.

Becka Sadlemyer had six kills in the match against Bertha-Hewitt, while Madi Forsell had five.

Forsell also served one ace in her time at the line and had six digs.

Annalise Savageau had 11 digs, while Taylor Waldvogel contributed 10 and Danielle Chisholm eight.

A sweep against Long Prairie-Grey Eagle also highlighted improvements by the Silverstreaks.

“The girls did a super job of staying focused and finishing the match, even when we were down,” said Wessel. “This was a great conference win for us.”

Brooke Sorenson led the way offensively with eight kills in the match, whileSadlemyer added six and Savageau, Forsell and Chisholm each had four.

Savageau also had seven set assists and 10 digs along with one ace block.

Sadlemyer had three ace serves in the game and added two ace blocks.
