SWAT team responds to man making threats
The Douglas County SWAT team was called to the Pilot Truck Stop on Evergreen Lane in Alexandria early Saturday morning to deal with a man in a vehicle who was threatening to harm himself and others.
The Douglas County SWAT team was called to the Pilot Truck Stop on Evergreen Lane in Alexandria early Saturday morning to deal with a man in a vehicle who was threatening to harm himself and others.
The Alexandria Police Department received a call about the incident at 4:35 a.m. Peter Mittlefehlt, 56, of Darlington, Wisconsin was allegedly making threats through text messages and phone conversations with a family member in New York.
Mittlefehlt was believed to have two weapons in his vehicle with him and the family member was concerned he would use them if approached by police.
The SWAT team was activated and responded to the scene. Mittlefehlt was contacted by phone and cooperated. He was taken into custody without incident.
There were no injuries.
Mittlefehlt is being held on a charge of making terroristic threats.
The case is still under investigation and local authorities are working with law enforcement agencies in New York.
Also assisting at the scene were the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the State Patrol.
