Ora Mae Bruns, 83, of Evansville, died August 28, 2012 after a short battle with cancer.

Ora Mae Bruns, 83, of Evansville, died August 28, 2012 after a short battle with cancer.

Ora was born November 5, 1928 in St. Killian to Arthur and Emma Loosbrock. She married Raymond Bruns on September 26, 1950 at St. Killian Catholic Church in St. Kilian.

Ora and Ray farmed and ran a plumbing business near Evansville. She was an active member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Brandon since 1957. During this period she gave her time, talent and resources to many activities of the church and community. Ora enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting, sewing and crafts. She also enjoyed gardening and canning. Ora also enjoyed the winter months in Cathedral City, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents; infant daughter, Cheryl; sister, Verona; and brother, Wendell.

Ora is survived by her children, Cathy (Doug) Herold of Waubay SD, Mary (Jerry) Yunger of Maple Grove, Linda Nokes of Parkers Prairie, Donna (Jeffrey) Morgan of Tucson, AZ, Gerald (Tammy) Bruns of Evansville, Richard (Wendy) Bruns of Weston, WI, Daniel (Michelle) Bruns of Tijeras, NM, and Therese (Rick) Butterfield of Anoka; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brothers, David Loosbrock, Marcel Loosbrock, Leo Loosbrock; and sister, Sister Davida Loosbrock OSF.

The family would like to extend its appreciation to Lake Country Assisted Living Home and Douglas County Hospice for their excellent care. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Douglas County Hospice, American Cancer Society, or a charity of choice.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 31 at 11 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Brandon. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Brandon.

Visitation is Thursday, August 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a parish prayer service at 5:30 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home; and one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Friday.
