Letter - This vandalism appears well planned

To the editor:

It is once again the season for vandalizing campaign signs, which is against the law. Many of Mary Franson’s campaign signs were vandalized this past weekend. It doesn’t appear that the vandalism was just someone doing it as a joke; the vandalism appears to be well-planned by those who disagree with her political views.

So, how were they vandalized? It appears that a stencil was used to paint a message in red across Mary’s signs, so they are ruined and unusable. Why should we all be concerned?

—Political signs are costly and vandalism is wasteful, no matter what form it takes.

—Such vandalism is tampering with our free speech rights. We have the right to express our preferences for candidates or issues in writing, by speaking, and by displaying political signs on our property.

—This is unethical and inappropriate and shows total disregard for our opinions and property.

Anyone having information about any political sign vandalism should contact local law enforcement.
