Primary is off to busy start in one Alexandria polling place

Today is the primary election -- have you voted yet?
Turnout was reported as "very good" at Lake Community Church, which is the polling place for Alexandria Ward 1, precincts 1 and 2. As of 12:30 p.m. today, more than 150 people had voted.
Polls will remain open until 8 p.m. throughout Douglas County. Contested local races in the primary include:
Douglas County Commissioner District 2 -- Norm Salto, Jim Hafdal and James Stratton.
Douglas County Commissioner District 3 -- Bev Bales, David Erickson, Bert Pexsa and Jerry Rapp.
Douglas County Commissioner District 4 -- Paul C. Anderson, Bill Dropik, Don Kortie Jr. and Charlie Meyer.
The two top vote-getters in each of those districts will appear on general election ballot this fall.
Also, in Minnesota House District 8B, DFL candidates Bruce Campbell and Bob Cunniff are in the running to compete against Republican Mary Franson.
There are also multiple candidates vying for U.S. Senate seats and the Minnesota Supreme Court.
