Wakeboarding, faith and friends - Wakn' Up is an eight week long summer program that teaches youth, ages 8 to 18, to wakeboard and wake surf.
"Along with that though, we really want to teach kids to become leaders and learn and grow in their faith," said Gary Anderson, one of the founders and coaches of Wakn' Up.
This year, about 30 kids participated in the program.
But Wakn' Up has a problem: it needs more volunteers.
"We had to turn many kids away this year because we were at our max," Anderson noted. "We need volunteers to volunteer their lake property for kids to hang out on during dinner, bible study and devotion as well as wake board boats."
The program itself is volunteer based and relies on funding and support from the non-profit Foundation 725 and Boy Scouts of America, as well as volunteers from around the community to give their time and resources.
"The program wants to grow - but it can't without volunteers to help out," Anderson said.
