Dana Reis of Garfield received the Community of Learners Scholarship from the University of North Dakota (UND) for the 2012-13 academic year. The scholarship is awarded for exemplary achievement in both high school grade point average and test scores. Reis, the daughter of Doug and Delene Reis, graduated from Jefferson High School in Alexandria and plans to attend UND in the fall.

Trent Petersen of Farwell is the recipient of a Renewable Grant from Concordia College, Moorhead. The son of Mark and Shari Petersen of Farwell, Petersen is a June 2012 graduate of Jefferson High School in Alexandria.
