Two Alexandria baseball teams took second and third place in a field of 24 teams at the State 14UAA baseball tournament recently. The Cardinals defeated Sleepy Eye 8-7, then fell to St. Louis Park 25-2 before advancing to the championship bracket. There they defeated Wayzata Blue 11-2, Howard Lake-Waverly 6-2 and the Alexandria Redbirds 12-10 before falling to Wayzata Gold 16-3 in the championship. The Alexandria Redbirds were third, defeating Eden Prairie 14-3, Adrian 11-0, LeCenter 9-1 and Andover 15-0 before falling to the Alexandria Cardinals. They added an 11-10 win over Burnsville for third.
