JO track and field: Roste is an All-American

The Alexandrian was sixth in the triple jump

Alexandria’s Jaran Roste came home with All-American honors after earning a sixth place in the triple jump at the USA Track and field National Junior Olympic Championships in Baltimore, Maryland recently.

Roste, who set a new state record in the Youth Boys triple jump with a distance of 38’ 8.5”, had a leap of 38’ 4” at the national event.

He also qualified for the high jump and long jump, finishing 27th and 40th respectively in those events.

JeAnna Miller finished tied for 12th in the Youth Division high jump with a height of 4’ 11”, two inches shy of her state meet jump. She was also 34th in the triple jump with a distance of 29’ 7.5”.

Aleah Miller finished 33rd in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:16.33 and Jaelyn Miller was 32nd in the 1,500-meter run in 7:38.41.

Approximately 8,000 athletes took part in the National Junior Olympic event that was held at W.A.C. Hughes Stadium on the campus of Morgan State Univesity.
