Experience Works holds seminar for seniors

Last month, the local Experience Works office, in partnership with the University of Minnesota Extension office, conducted an all-day financial education seminar for area seniors. Michael Pattee, employment and training coordinator with Experience Works, hosted the event, which was held at the Douglas County Public Works Department.

Last month, the local Experience Works office, in partnership with the University of Minnesota Extension office, conducted an all-day financial education seminar for area seniors. Michael Pattee, employment and training coordinator with Experience Works, hosted the event, which was held at the Douglas County Public Works Department.

The goal was to increase the understanding of personal and family finance concepts and teaching skills among community organizations.

The presenters at the workshop included Deb Shea and Mary Krueger from the Douglas County Senior Citizens offices; Sherry Bruckner, an attorney with Legal Services of Northwest Minnesota; and Benjamin Head, an attorney from the law firm of Thornton, Reif, Dolan, Bowen and Klecker, PA. Presentation topics included Medicare, frauds and scams, management and estate planning.

Experience Works is a national nonprofit organization whose programs improve the lives of low-income seniors through training, community service and employment.
