Resorters Golf Tournament: Adams wins first Junior 10-12 championship
Nathaniel Adams of Maple Grove kept the Junior 10-12 Division title in his family on Saturday as he ran away from Alexandria’s Elliot Amundson in a 5-4 match.
Christopher Adams won the division in 2011. A year later, it was his younger brother who ran away from the competition throughout the week to earn his first Resorters title.
Adams didn’t waste words when asked at the awards ceremony about the highlights of his tournament play. “I just played good,” he said. His grandfather served as his caddy. Adams said he’ll be back to defend his title as a 12-year-old.
That could be bad news for the rest of the field. Adams was the low qualifier with a 38 last Monday before rolling through his opponents during match play.
He won 5-4 in the quarterfinals and 4-3 in the semis before taking the championship 5-4. It doesn’t get much more dominant than that in nine-hole matches.
