UPDATE TUES.: Four sent to hospital after head on crash Monday

Names of four people sent to the hospital after a head on collision around 10 a.m. Monday have been released. The Alexandria Police Department (APD) responded to an accident involving two vehicles at the intersection of 50th Avenue and Sanibel Lane.

Names of four people sent to the hospital after a head on collision around 10 a.m. Monday have been released. The Alexandria Police Department (APD) responded to an accident involving two vehicles at the intersection of 50th Avenue and Sanibel Lane.

Vonda Mueller, 73, of Long Prairie was driving a 2004 Chevy Impala east on 50th Avenue and turned left onto Sanibel Lane crashing into a vehicle traveling west on 50th Avenue through a green traffic light. Gladys Zellgert, 86, of Long Prairie was in the vehicle with Mueller.

Tylor Lenz, 19, of Royalton was driving a 1997 Chevy pickup west on 50th Avenue with passenger Megan Klienfehn, 19, of Sauk Centre.

All four individuals were taken to Douglas County Hospital where they were treated for unknown injuries. Zellgert was later transported to St. Cloud Hospital and is in serious condition, according to hospital staff.

Alexandria Police and North Ambulance responded to the scene. APD is investigating the accident. Police said conditions are unknown at this time.
