Letter - Bales is attentive to our concerns

To the editor:

We take this opportunity to support Ms. Bev Bales for re-election to the Douglas County Commission.

Our family has for decades had a cabin on Lake Irene. We spend the summers here and winter in Manhattan, Kansas, where I have served both as a commissioner and mayor. So, we have a sense for how commissioners can and should represent their constituencies.

Commissioner Bales worked on our behalf last year with a wood chip plant proposal that had been under consideration for the north side of the lake. It would have been an economic disaster had it been approved, as over a quarter billion dollars of properties up here would have been subject to non-stop noise. Commissioner Bales was attentive to our concerns and personally engaged in the turkey processor ultimately withdrawing its application.

So, we hope you find her worthy of another term. She’s certainly earned our respect, trust and this strong recommendation.
