Resorters Golf Tournament: Medalist, pair of Alexandrians still in hunt for 10-12 crown

Semifinal will be played on Friday from the 10th tee.

The first round of play is in the books for the Juniors’ 10-12 Division, paring down the players from eight to four.

Still alive in championship flight play are medalist Nathaniel Adams of Maple Grove, who defeated Joseph Bigger of Alexandria 5-4, while Isaac Burgess of Starbuck was a 4-2 winner over Nate Martin of St. Cloud.

In the lower bracket, Alexandria’s Hunter Rebrovich defeated Ben Jenson of Alexandria 2-1, while Elliot Amundson, also of Alexandria, topped Nicholas Portz of St. Cloud.

The 10-12’s will take the day off today and will return to the tee at 9:36 a.m. Friday, starting on the back nine.

Adams def. Bigger

Adams needed just five holes to secure his spot in the semifinals with a 5-4 win over Bigger, winning every hole from the get-go on No. 10.

He opened with four straight pars, and ended the match on No. 14 with a bogey win.

Burgess tops Martin

In a 4-2 victory, Burgess and Martin opened by halving the first hole on the back nine.

But Burgess picked up a pair of wins on Nos. 11 and 12 with bogey and par before adding another win on 14 with a par.

The duo split their third hole of the match on No. 15 before Burgess closed out action with three straight wins on bogey, par and par.

Rebrovich tops Jenson

A pair of friends faced off in the first semifinal of the lower bracket as Alexandrians Rebrovich and Jenson squared off.

It was Rebrovich who took the first step forward as he won the opening hole at No. 10 on a bogey, but he was not able to add to his advantage until No. 14 as both players matched each other shot for shot on 11, 12 and 13.

Rebrovich used a par on 14 to increase his lead to two, but a halved next hole and a bogey win by Jenson on No. 16 cut that lead in half.

A par win on the No. 17 by Rebrovich ended the match in his favor at 2-1.

Amundson downs Portz

A one-hole advantage, earned on No. 10 with a bogey, gave Amundson a lead that would hold until the 13th hole. That’s when Portz would win by par to even the match.

But Amundson found his swing on the next three holes, winning on bogey, par and par for a 3-2 victory.
