Resorters Golf Tournament: Dierks is Junior 13-15 medalist

Peter Dierks of Leawood, Kansas set himself up as the frontrunner heading into the Junior 13-15 Division championship flight after shooting a 72 on Monday.

Dierks entered into a wide open field yesterday after 2011 champion Nick Heinen of Edmond, Oklahoma moved onto the Men’s Division this year. Sam Franklin of Maple Grove entered match play as the second seed after shooting a 78 on Monday.

Alexandria’s Natalie Amundson came in as the three seed. She had a breakout season for the Cardinal girls’ golf team this past spring and carried it over into qualifying with a 79. Ben Sigel of Deephaven also shot a 79 to round out the top four seeds.

The final cut for the championship flight was an 88 shot by Sam Rice of Pleasant Hill, Iowa.
