Resorters Golf Tournament: Empanger medals again in Senior Division

Chaska’s Jon Empanger, the defending Senior Men’s Division champion, started his 2012 Resorters play in fine form, shooting an even par 72 to take top honors in the qualifying round on Monday.

Empanger who sports titles from 2009, 2010 and 2011 in the Senior Division, as well as 1993, 1997, 2004, 2007 and 2008 crowns in the Executive Division, battled Todd Nelson of Barrett in his opening match yesterday.

Alexandria’s Larry Novotny had the second-best qualifying round at 1-over 73, sharing that spot with Jim Arnold of Plymouth and Steve Herzog of Alexandria.

Other Alexandrians in the championship flight are Dave Battey, Brad Hanson, Bill Freeman, Rick Feriancek, Tom Southward and Daryl Johnson.
