Catalyst Covenant Church in Alexandria was named a member congregation of the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) at their annual meeting held June 21-24 in Irvine, California.
At the meeting, representatives of Covenant congregations from across the U.S. and Canada gathered to worship, ordain ministers and address the business of the church. Following action by delegates of the Covenant Northwest Conference, held April 18-21 at Alexandria Covenant Church, Catalyst received national recognition as a member of ECC in the Upper Midwest.
The ECC is a multiethnic movement of churches in the U.S. and Canada with ministries on five continents. Founded in 1885 by Swedish immigrants, the ECC values the Bible as God's Word and the power of unity within diversity.
Catalyst Covenant Church launched weekly Sunday worship and children's ministries in January 2011 at Woodland School in Alexandria. A joint venture of Alexandria Covenant Church, the Northwest Conference and the Covenant, Catalyst meets in Douglas and Pope county homes and public places throughout the week.
