Art in the Park returns for its 37th year

The Alexandria Area Arts Association (AAAA) will hold its 37th annual Art in the Park Saturday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, July 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Alexandria City Park. The event features art, handmade crafts, food and entertainment. It is free and open to the public.

City Park transforms into an outdoor art gallery filled with more than 150 booths of work from around the country. It features a variety of mediums such as apparel, drawings, jewelry, metal work, photography, printmaking and more.

The event features ongoing live music on one of two stages. The casts of the AAAA student theater projects will perform numbers. Attendees can also dunk cast members and AAAA staff and board members.

Kids.Art.Avenue is a new feature providing make-and-take crafts for kids, including a sock puppet, treasure box, rock painting and a mural to be displayed in the AAAA lobby,

Art in the Park offers a variety of food options, from barbecue to food on a stick. Favorites include hand-dipped cheese curds, gyros, mini doughnuts, macaroni and cheese on a stick, Philly beef steaks and more.
