7 to 8 p.m.
Meet a Wildland Firefighter
Meet wildland firefighter Ryan Anderson at the Lake Carlos State Park amphitheater to learn about prescribed wildfires. Anderson will share tools and tricks of the firefighter and give kids a chance to use the fire hose.
The park entrance is located 10 miles north of Alexandria on State Highway 29, then 2 miles west on Highway 38.

Digital Photography Bridge to Nature Teacher Workshop
Participants of these four-hour workshops, targeted for grades 3-9, will learn the use of digital cameras, basic photo tips, a hands-on photo activity, downloading and editing techniques and student project ideas. They will also gain free access to camera kits housed at Minnesota State Parks to check out for their classroom, as well as free access to digital cameras and field guides for students.
All workshops are free. However, a Minnesota State Park Vehicle Pass is required of all vehicles entering the park. Passes are $5 a day or $25 annually. Registration is required. Bring a lunch.

Trees and Plants along the Trail
Join a naturalist or naturalist volunteer on the Central Lakes State Trail for a 5-mile round trip bike ride. The ride leaves from Big Ole in Alexandria and heads toward Garfield. Bike helmets are strongly encouraged. Children younger than 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
