To the editor:

I attended a couple of open public meetings last week: State Revenue Commissioner Myron Fran on tax reform and the second joint meeting of commissioners and city council.

The tax reform meeting was on tax revenue and the changes of the three types of revenue sources, property taxes, sales tax and income tax and the future changes of revenues due to the again population.

The joint meeting of Douglas County commissioners and Alexandria City Council was the second such meeting. The county should have been having joint meetings with all the communities in Douglas County years ago. We are all in these economic times and we need to be working together, not separately, for the future of our county and the communities within.

I would appreciate your vote at the primary election on August 14.
