Every hour, someone in the United States is diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). This unpredictable disease impedes the flow of information between the brain and the body and within the brain itself; symptoms range from numbness to paralysis.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society funds research, advocates for those with MS, facilitates professional education and creates programs and services designed to help people with MS have a normal life.

The ride is expected to raise more than $820,000 to support programs, services and research for the 17,000 sufferers of MS in Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and western Wisconsin and Nebraska.

If you know someone affected by MS, have a friend or family member racing or simply want to show support for a good cause, go to the Douglas County Fairgrounds between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Friday to cheer on incoming riders.
