The Alexandria VFW I and II baseball teams opened up the District 5 playoffs last night, Tuesday, by playing each other in the opening round at Knute Nelson field.
The Alexandria I team got the second seed in the tournament, while Morris took the top seed. The tournament will move to Morris this weekend with a trip to the state tournament on the line. The championship game will be played on Monday night at 6 p.m.
The Alexandria VFW I team went into the tournament after losing to Morris and splitting a doubleheader against Brainerd last week. They took second in their home tournament July 13-15 after falling to the Osakis Legion team 4-2 in the championship.
