Alert issued over property deed mailing

The Douglas County Recorder’s Office issued an alert today to residents who own real estate in the county.

The Douglas County Recorder’s Office issued an alert today to residents who own real estate in the county.

There is a postal mailing being circulated from a “Local Records Office” in St. Paul, telling residents that they can ob-tain a copy of their real property deed for a fee of $89.

This “Local Records Office” is not affiliated with any state, or the United States or county records, according to the Douglas County Recorder’s Office.

To obtain a copy of a deed, real estate owners may go to the Douglas County Recorder’s Office located in the courthouse and obtain copies of any real estate documents for 50-cents per page or $10 per document for a certified copy.
