Minnesota Department of Revenue Commissioner Myron Frans will hold a tax reform town hall meeting in Alexandria on Friday, July 20 from 2 to 3 p.m. at Alexandria City Hall.
The meeting is part of a tour of tax reform meetings on the Iron Range and around northern Minnesota. They will feature a short presentation about Minnesota’s tax system and then open up for questions and discussion with elected and local officials, business leaders and the public.
Frans will gather input on what fair taxation means, what to look for in a good tax system and what can be done to simplify Minnesota’s tax system. He will also talk with Minnesota residents and gather tax reform ideas and input for Governor Mark Dayton.
The meetings are open to the public, and area residents are encouraged to participate.
