Out and About - Hotter on the water

Classic Boat Show at Arrowwood Resort sizzles in its 25th year.

By: Crystal Dey, Alexandria Echo Press

A quarter-century was celebrated at Arrowwood Resort on Saturday at the annual Chain of Lakes Classic Boat Show.

Enthusiasts weathered the heat and bolstering rays on Lake Darling to ogle sleek, shiny vessels of yesteryears. A few space-age styles like the Falls Flyer and a 1960 Circraft popped out of the sea of polished wood artistry.

In addition to the usual suspects, Chris Craft, Gar Wood, Larson and Alexandria Boat Works, were a few uncommon elements – European sports cars. The addition has been dubbed the “Moto Gusto” event and featured Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Porsche racing teams divided by country of origin.

The event was sponsored by the Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum.
