Classic boat show celebrates 25 years

The 2012 Chain of Lakes Classic Boat Show, sponsored by the Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum, is celebrating its 25th year on Saturday, July 14.

The event is held at Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center near Alexandria, and will feature a variety of watercraft on land and in the water from manufacturers such as Chris Craft, Gar Wood, Larson, Alexandria Boat Works and others.

To celebrate its 25th year, the show has expanded to include a larger variety of rare watercraft, some of which are national award winners and more than 25 feet long. The on-land displays include a Falls Flyer Roadster and the unique Aqua Car.

This year, fine European motorcars are also on the show roster. The new 'Moto Gusto' event features Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and a Porsche racing team.

This is a family friendly event. Arrowwood will serve lunch on the lawn and there will be face painting for the children. Admission is free to the public.

Event Schedule

Date: Saturday, July 14

Entrant registration: 8 a.m.

Show: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There will be motor starts throughout the day and a boat drive-by will take place at 3 p.m. (weather permitting)
