The Toy Industry Foundation (TIF) recently launched a new program that lets kids, communities and companies make a stand – a lemonade stand – that will help give the gift of play to disadvantaged children around the country.
“Make a Stand for Kids” is a charity-based initiative that encourages young entrepreneurs to set up and run their own lemonade stand. This supports the Toy Industry Foundation to distribute toys and make play possible to children in crisis or other stressful situations.
“While running their own business, children can also learn about the importance of charitable giving, giving back to others and helping those less fortunate,” said Jean Butler, executive director of TIF.
Kids and their parents can visit MakeaStandForKids.org to get tips and ideas and print graphics and signage. Sample recipes with ideas for food and other beverages to sell beyond lemonade can also be found.
There is no official registration process. Parents are requested to read the online fundraising guidelines and give consent before their kids begin.
Children can post photos of their stand, share recipes and more at MakeaStandforKids.org. Proceeds from the stands will help give toys, games and grant monies to worthy children’s charities
TIF helps children in need by donating toys and grant funding to children’s charities. It is supported by toy companies that donate new toys and by companies and individuals who provide monetary donations.
