The Osakis Legion baseball team used eight early runs to run away with a 9-1 win over Glenwood last Tuesday night.
Jordan Frederick, Drew Fearing and Doug Zimmel were solid at the top of the lineup through the school season and not much has changed this summer. Those three combined to reach base nine times and drove in five runs, while scoring five runs themselves.
Osakis jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first before creating some distance in the second inning. Jordan Mack led off with a single. Two hits and two walks would follow as Osakis put up four runs to build a comfortable lead.
That was plenty of offense for Frederick on the mound. He went all seven innings and allowed just one earned run after giving up a leadoff double in the second.
Frederick allowed just one more hit all day. He cruised through 1-2-3 innings in four of his seven innings, striking out four and allowing just one walk along the way.
Osakis moved to 6-2 this summer after the win. They will welcome in New London-Spicer on Thursday night for a 6:30 first pitch.
They will then play in the Alexandria VFW tournament that runs July 13-15. Osakis takes on Rocori at 11 a.m. on Friday before playing Elk River immediately after that game. They will take on the Alexandria II team at 1:30 on Saturday before seeing where they play in the championship round on Sunday.
