The Alexandria Beetles baseball team is stepping up to the plate to help the victims of flooding in Duluth.
The Beetles are hosting the Duluth Huskies this Wednesday and Thursday, July 11-12, in a pair of 7:05 p.m. games.
The Beetles will donate some proceeds from each ticket sold on both nights to the Red Cross, which will go directly to funding flood relief efforts in the Duluth area.
The Beetles are also planning other ways to raise money through donation boxes, silent auctions, selling autographed Beetles merchandise and other baseball memorabilia, proceeds from a tennis ball toss and a raffle.
The Beetles have been involved in many other charitable efforts over the years and have annually donated thousands of dollars worth of tickets to different causes. It also raises money for breast cancer research during its annual “Paint the Town Pink” game at Knute Nelson Field.
