County continues working toward solution on Lake Oscar

Work to alleviate the overflow on Lake Oscar is ongoing. At their June 26 meeting, Douglas County commissioners approved a contract for Sellin Brothers, Inc. of Hawley to make improvements to the outlet.

Work to alleviate the overflow on Lake Oscar is ongoing.

At their June 26 meeting, Douglas County commissioners approved a contract for Sellin Brothers, Inc. of Hawley to make improvements to the outlet.

Sellin Brothers’ bid for $262,480 was 14.67 percent under the engineer’s estimate. Six other companies submitted amounts between $287,040 and $517,925.

Commissioners approved Public Works Director/County Engineer Dave Robley’s request to apply for a flood damage reduction grant with the Department of Natural Resources that will also aid efforts on Lake Oscar.

In other bid action, a construction contract was awarded to Tri-City Paving of Little Falls for maintenance of County Roads 19 and 82. The project was estimated to cost more than $1.9 million; Tri-City bid $1,410,401. Four other bids submitted ranged between $1,490,859 and $1,774,741.
