Otto Bremer Foundation awards grants to local programs and organizations

The Otto Bremer Foundation, majority owner of Bremer Bank, awarded 116 grants totaling $6,307,795 in May. Sixty-nine grants totaling $3,493,519 support programs and organizations in Minnesota.

Bremer Financial Corporation is a privately held, $8 billion regional financial services company jointly owned by its employees and the Otto Bremer Foundation.

The Otto Bremer Foundation owns 92 percent of Bremer Bank and receives an equivalent share of the bank profits that are paid out as dividends. This means that a large portion of bank profit is invested back in local communities through grants and program-related investments.

The following local programs and organizations were awarded grants.

• Listening Ear Crisis Center Project, $70,000, Alexandria: To support the Father’s Resource Program, which assists parents in development and enhancing healthy relationships and parenting skills.

• City of Millerville, $35,000, Millerville: To support the renovations to the playground for the Millerville Community Club.

• Rainbow Rider Transit Board, $27,500, Lowry: To purchase IT dispatch equipment for integrated community transportation for Douglas, Pope, Stevens, Grand, Todd and Traverse counties.

• Runestone Community Center Commission, $20,000, Alexandria: To support a feasibility study for Runestone Community Center.
