Fourth of July fun sizzled in Douglas County Wednesday – with a heaping helping of heat.
Temperatures rocketed to 96 degrees, 16 degrees hotter than the normal high, and the muggy humidity made things even more sweltering.
Still, people had fun celebrating Independence Day with boat parades on lakes Carlos, Ida, Big Chip, Victoria and Osakis.
Evansville’s Fourth of July Bash added to the festivities and the patriotic day was capped off with fireworks displays throughout the area, including Star Storm 2012 at Arrowwood Resort on Lake Darling, billed as West Central Minnesota’s biggest fireworks display.
