Alexandria Area Community Foundation to award $30,000

The Alexandria Area Community Foundation (AACF) plans to award $30,000 in grants to organizations that serve the residents of the Alexandria area and improve the quality of life in the region.

The deadline to submit grant applications is July 31.

The AACF will accept grant applications that support education; social services; health, arts and culture; and civic grants.

Grant applications that encourage effective use of community resources, promote volunteer and citizen involvement, address emerging and changing needs or enable nonprofits to reduce costs and increase efficiency will receive favorable consideration. The AACF seeks to leverage program dollars from other funders by providing local nonprofits with grants for capital, program and project expenses.

Last year, AACF awarded grants to 19 area nonprofit organizations. Organizations applying for a grant must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits, schools or government entities that serve the residents of Douglas County.

The AACF is a public charity that attracts and administers charitable funds for the benefit of the local community.
