Baseball: U.S. Military team at Knute Nelson Saturday
The team will take on the Resorters All-Stars
Alexandria will welcome in the U.S. Military All-Star baseball team to Knute Nelson Field this Saturday to take on the Resorters League All-Stars.
The Military All Stars have embarked on the “Red, White and Blue Tour” every summer since 1990. They have played in cities all across the United States since they were formed by retired U.S. Navy Commander Terry Allevord. He moved the team from Pensacola, Florida to San Diego, California in 1993.
The team features active duty, reserve, veterans, delayed entry program and first responders. The all stars play in more than 100 games annually.
Their opponents on Saturday night will feature all star players from the area Resorters League. The Resorters League is made up of teams from Ashby, Brandon-Evansville, Carlos, Clarissa, Kensington, Long Prairie, Miltona, Osakis, Sauk Centre and Urbank. The league operates in the Class C Division of Minnesota Amateur Baseball.
The Military All Stars deliver unique patriotic events designed to honor America. They conduct choreographed pregame ceremonies that include “passing the flag” and the “walk of honor” to celebrate American history in a tribute to honor those lost in the September 11 tragedy.
Festivities are scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday. For ticket information, contact the Alexandria Beetles ticket office at (320) 763-8151 or visit www.alexandriabeetles.com.
