Cheryl “Cherri” Lynn Koeberl, age 56, of Hector, passed away at her home on Sunday evening, June 17, 2012, surrounded by her loving family, following a four-year battle with cancer.
Cheryl “Cherri” Lynn Koeberl, age 56, of Hector, passed away at her home on Sunday evening, June 17, 2012, surrounded by her loving family, following a four-year battle with cancer.
Cheryl was born June 14, 1956 in Pelican Rapids, the daughter of Bernard and Avis (Johnson) Wischnak. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Alexandria. She was baptized in her faith by immersion as an adult in Alexandria.
On December 2, 1989, Cherri was united in marriage to Thomas Koeberl at the First Baptist Church in Willmar. They made their home on the farm in Osceola Township, northwest of Hector, where they raised their daughter, Carly and son, Ross. For 14 years, Cherri worked as a bank teller and held employment with Bremer Bank in Alexandria, Home State Bank in Willmar, and Bremer Bank in Willmar. She later worked as the church secretary for Shalom Baptist Church in Hutchinson and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hector. Cherri also cleaned homes and offices for a number of clients.
Cherri was a member of Shalom Baptist Church in Hutchinson, and a former member of the Reachout Singers of Alexandria. She was involved with the Renville County Home Extension Group, the BLH After-Prom Committee, and served as superintendent of the Renville County Fair Photography Department.
Cherri enjoyed photography, camping, fishing, singing, reading, going to garage sales and household auctions, and attending Sonshine Festival in Willmar.
Cherri is survived by her husband, Thomas Koeberl of Hector; children, Carly Koeberl and Ross Koeberl of Hector; mother, Avis Johnson of Northfield; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marilyn and Lloyd Koeberl of Bird Island; siblings, Debra (Russell) Mull of Shoreview, Gregory (Rose) Johnson of Kindred, North Dakota, and Melissa (Dennis) Hutter of Mayville, North Dakota; brother-in-law, Jonathon (Eileen) Koeberl of Buffalo Lake; sisters-in-law, Kathy (LeRoy) Ruud of Lake Lillian, Stacia (David) Rodel of Bird Island, and Gena Koeberl of Owatonna; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Cherri was preceded in death by her stepfather, Arnold Mathias; father, Bernard Wischnak; nephew, Nathan Ruud; grandparents, Chester and Iva Johnson, Fred and Blanche Wischnak.
Funeral services for Cherri were held Thursday, June 21 at Shalom Baptist Church in Hutchinson.
