BOARD OF EDUCATION

INDEPENDENT SCHOOL

DISTRICT NO. 206

ALEXANDRIA, MINNESOTA

MAY 31, 2012

The special meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District No. 206, Alexandria, Minnesota, was called to order by Board Chairperson Dean Anderson at 5:36 p.m. in the District Office Oak Conference Room, Alexandria, Minnesota.

Board Members Present: Jim Hafdal, Jean Robley, Dave Anderson, Pam Carlson and Dean Anderson, Sandy Susag and ex-officio Superintendent Terry Quist.

Board Members Absent: Alan Zeithamer

Others Present: Trevor Peterson, Jill Johnson, Dave Hartmann, Chad Duwenhoegger and 7 visitors.

CONSENT AGENDA

Motion by Robley, seconded by Hafdal, to approve the Consent Agenda as follows:

RETIREMENT AGREEMENTS

To accept the following retirement agreement, with appreciation for his many years of service to the district:

--Steve Gilbertson, Teacher, effective June 6, 2012

REVIEW AND AWARD BIDS FOR BID PACKAGE #1 FOR CONSTRUCTION OF NEW HIGH SCHOOL

Motion by Dave Anderson, seconded by Robley, to accept the base bids on Work Scopes 13-A, 26-A, 31-A, 33-A, 32-C, 32-D, 32-E, 32-G, 32-F, Alternate #1, and Alternate #2A thru 2C. (Work Scope 11-A is on hold pending further review)

Contracts awarded are as follows:

--Contract 13-A and Alternate #1, Site Bleachers - to Seating & Athletic Facility Enterprises, Inc. for $642,858.

--Contract 26-A, Site Electrical - to Loen Electric, Inc. dba Alexandria Electric for $845,600.

--Contract 31-A and 33-A (combined bid), Earthwork and Site Utilities - to Peterson Companies, Inc. for $2,726,000.

--Contract 32-A, Asphalt Paving - to Central Specialties for $1,477,000.

--Contract 32-C, Track Surface- to Fisher Tracks, Inc. for $310,749.

--Contract 32-D, Tennis Court Surface - to Upper Midwest Athletic Construction for $59,870.

--Contract 32-E, 32-G (combined bid) and Alternates 2A thru 2C, Irrigation, Seeding and Sodding - to Bio Builder, Inc. dba Exterior Designs of Alexandria for $430,000.

--Contract 32-F, Fencing - to Oberg Fence Co. for $259,000.

REJECT AND REBID WORK SCOPE 32-B OF BID PACKAGE #1 FOR CONSTRUCTION OF NEW HIGH SCHOOL

Motion by Carlson, seconded by Susag to reject and re-bid Work Scope 32-B (Site Concrete) of Bid Package #1 for the new high school construction project.

Ayes: Hafdal, Robley, Dean Anderson, Carlson, Susag

Nays: Dave Anderson

Motion Carried.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Dean Anderson, seconded by Dave Anderson, that being there is no further business to come before the Board at this time, the special meeting is adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
