Trio con Brio will perform at Mount Carmel Ministries on June 28 at 8:30 p.m. in the chapel as part of their third U.S. tour.
They will mostly play music by Scandinavian composers, some folk music and hymns such as "How Great Thou Art" and "Beautiful Savior."
Jan Holmgren got the idea for the group in 2001 when she decided to put a flute, oboe and piano together. They would only play music specifically arranged for this constellation, and the music genre would be wide and not limited to a specific type of music.
Today the trio consists of Carina Cederwall, flute, Jan Holmgren, oboe/English horn, and Stig Andersson, piano/arrangements.
All three musicians were educated at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, Sweden. Their repertoire includes classical music, well-known hymns, musicals and film music.
There will be a free will offering for the trio's travel expenses.
Mount Carmel is located on the west side of Lake Carlos, four miles north of Alexandria.
