Marching band captures top honors

The Alexandria Marching Band had a successful outing last weekend, performing in two parades on Saturday, June 16.

    The Alexandria Marching Band had a successful outing last weekend, performing in two parades on Saturday, June 16. First the band marched in the Owatonna Parade earning a 3rd place finish in class AA. The band scored a 77.25 at Owatonna, which was its first parade of the season. That evening the band marched in the Buffalo Parade and won Grand Championship honors with a score of 79.9 out of a field of 14 bands. The band will serve as the host band this weekend for the Vikingland Band Festival in Alexandria, scheduled for Sunday, June 24 with a 1:30 p.m. start time. (Contributed photo)
