To the editor:

The redefinition of marriage is detrimental to both a society’s existence and to the spiritual laws outlined in the Bible. Consequently, there has been extensive activism across the United States to legalize the institution of gay marriage. The perverted act of homosexuality is decried in our Scripture, which necessitates its sinful nature. It is indispensable that the citizens of this country realize that precedent does not dictate justifiability under spiritual laws. For example, Leviticus 18:22 states, “you shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.” Furthermore, there are numerous other references in the Bible which necessitate the evil of this sin.

The movement to legalizing gay marriage should be discredited by the fact that procreation was the fundamental root of marriage. Obviously, it is impossible for procreation to occur between couples of the same gender. In the case of adoptions, children are placed in homes that may be conducive to artificial love, but not to the Biblical love that God commands of his followers. There is no replacement to a father and mother that raise children to the timeless Judeo-Christian values, which were handed down for generations in this country.

Humankind has an innate ability to contrive excuses in lieu of disguising sin, which is the circumstance with gay marriage. These sinful individuals of society are granted a license to sin, when a country endorses or apathetically approaches homosexuality. Instead of promoting a secular version of acceptance and tolerance, lawmakers should be endorsing repentance. This country can either choose to pursue a course that will lead to its own downfall or reaffirm the values of the Founding Fathers that were chartered through the inspiration and revelation of our Creator.
