Secretary of State Mark Ritchie recently announced that the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State has approved distribution of more than $156,000 in federal HAVA Operating Grants to 20 counties. They will be used to defray operating costs of assistive voting equipment and vote-counting equipment in their polling places.
“We were pleased to be able to provide these grants,” said Ritchie. “These grant monies should help counties defray costs, which is especially important in lean budget times.”
Counties received a grant award of $265.31 for each polling place. Douglas County received a total of $7,959.30.
