Doc's Dixieland group was founded in the early 1970s by Dr. Paul Engebretson. The initial "gig" was for the Jingle Bells Telethon.
Since then, the band has played Dixieland music and Dixie gospel music for numerous events including the Jaycee's fundraising Jingle Bells Telethon and the Aging Antics, which raises funds for the Alexandria Area Arts Association.
They have also performed at church services throughout the area.
Featured musicians include Mark Freitas - trumpet, Chuck Wencl - tenor sax and vocals, Duffy Morten - bass horn, John Gladen - trombone, Steve Reishus - drums, Randy Morken - keyboard, Paul Engebretson - clarinet and Michelle Wencl - vocals.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. In the event of inclement weather, listen to KXRA 1400 AM for cancellation information.
The series is sponsored by Anderson Funeral Home and Elden's Fresh Foods. This concert is sponsored by Velde-Moore Law Firm.
The Red Willow Arts Coalition is a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide the community with access to more musical experiences.
