Minnewaska’s Madison Phillips was named the most valuable player for the Lakers’ softball team after the season ended.
The sophomore pitcher led the Lakers to an 18-3 record this season by giving her team a chance to win almost every night out. She was also one of five Minnewaska players named All-West Central Conference and the lone Lakers’ representative on the All-Section 6AA team.
Senior Kaylyn Oberg also took home a lot of hardware. The senior earned the Laker Tough Award and the team’s Gold Glove for her defense. She joined Phillips on the All-WCC team and was a second-team all state selection.
Kaylee Jacobs, Julianna Helander and Allyssa Engfer all earned All-WCC honors as well. Engfer was named the most improved player for the Lakers and Helander won the Silver Bat Award after hitting .531 this season.
