Lauren Maras of Alexandria was selected as one of the top three scores in the Pitch, Hit and Run sectional finals in Fergus Falls on June 2.
Maras placed first in the ages 7-8 group and her score placed her in the top three compared to other competitors in her age group from Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wisconsin and Iowa.
She will advance to the team competition at Target Field in Minneapolis June 16.
Jacy Roste, 11-12 age group, was also first, while Jaran Roste, 13-14 age group, finished second.
Local competition was held in Alexandria May 13, and was hosted by the Alexandria Jaycees.
Champions from the local event from each age and gender groups in the all-around, pitching, hitting and running divisions advanced to the sectional meet at Fergus Falls.
From there, the top three scores from each MLB geographic market advanced to the Target Center.
The top three scores nationwide from the upcoming competition on June 16 will move on to the national competition in Kansas City during All-Star weekend.
Finalist will compete on-field prior to shagging baseballs at the Home Run Derby. They will also be attending the All-Star game.
Aquafina’s Pitch, Hit and Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball. This grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills.
Boys and girls compete separately and participants have the opportunity to compete in four levels of competition including Locals, Sectionals, Team Championships and the National Finals at the MLB All-Star Game.
