ALEX SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER

The Alexandria VFW I team made easy work of Willmar II in a doubleheader sweep on Tuesday night.

Alexandria jumped all over Willmar 29-0 in game one before taking care of them 11-1 in the nightcap. Spencer Lucas pitched a strong game for his team in game two. He went all four innings for Alexandria, limiting Willmar to just two hits and the one run. He walked nobody and struck out eight.

Jake Booth and Casey Hammerback combined to throw a no-hitter in game one. Booth worked the first three frames as he walked two and struck out five. Hammerback came on in the top of the fourth and walked three but struck out the side to finish things off.

Lucas, Danny Kuhn and Chris Leary all scored two runs out of the top three spots in the lineup for Alexandria in game two. Kaden Anderson also scored twice. Alexandria busted things open with seven runs in the third.

Alexandria got a lot of different players some playing time in a run-away win in game one. It was a strong final tune-up before hosting its first tournament of the summer at Knute Nelson Field this weekend.
