Letter - Voices for peace get heard

I would like to note the very important role citizen peace activists perform in our society.

To the editor:

I would like to note the very important role citizen peace activists perform in our society. If not for the people standing on street corners like has been done for years in Alexandria, many people would not be thinking about the terribly destructive deeds and death and destruction our government carries out in our name, misusing our tax-dollars, even though all polls show the vast majority of people in Minnesota and across the country are fed up with these wars that rob our society of the wealth required to solve our own social problems.

Our government leaders boast that we are the world's greatest democracy while people have to stand on street corners opposing wars no one except those who profit from wars want.

I just want to say thank you to those people who have been braving rain and freezing temperatures standing on the corner every week for so many years in Alexandria, making sure the voices of people for peace get heard.
