Beetles halt seven-game skid

The Alexandria Beetles enjoyed a much-needed day off this past Sunday after ending a seven-game losing streak with an 11-5 win over St. Cloud on Saturday.

The Beetles were just starting to get their roster intact as the weekend rolled around. They scored three first-inning runs in St. Cloud on Saturday before putting five up in the seventh to put the game away. Jimmy Pickens went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and Dylan Raper added two doubles, three walks, two runs and three RBIs.

The Beetles needed to stop the bleeding from the previous week. Alexandria had dropped three straight games to St. Cloud before getting the win on Sunday. The Beetles gave up a combined 34 runs during those three losses.

Alexandria is in the midst of an 11-game road trip right now. The Beetles will be in Mankato tonight, Wedesnday, before going to Waterloo for five straight games starting tomorrow.
