There may be a few bumps in the road if you plan on traveling in Douglas County this summer – but plans are in place to smooth them out for future road trips.
County Engineer/Public Works Director Dave Robley presented the road construction schedule for July through October at a recent public information meeting. Tentative plans through 2016 were also forecast.
Construction funding comes primarily from state aid funds ($2,197,411). Other sources include: county bonds ($645,000), county levy ($634,203), town bridge account ($384,000), state bridge bonding ($200,000), flood damage grant ($155,000) and township funds ($10,000).
Projected spending on construction in the next four years fluctuates between $2.4 million and $4.2 million.
JULY
Alexandria/Carlos: County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 20 from Trunk Highway 29 to CSAH 9 will be reconstructed. Detours will be in place. Estimated cost, $652,000.
Alexandria: CSAH 44 from CSAH 22 to CSAH 42 will have a bituminous overlay applied. Minor, temporary traffic delays are expected. Estimated cost, $321,000.
Alexandria: County Road 90 from CSAH 45 to 5th Avenue will receive an overlay. Minor, temporary traffic delays are expected. Estimated cost, $252,000.
Lund/Evansville: CSAH 82 from west county line to CSAH 41 will be reclaimed and overlaid. Minor, temporary traffic delays are expected. Estimated cost, $1,418,000.
Lund/Evansville: CSAH 19 from Trunk Highway 79 to CSAH 82 will have an overlay applied. Minor, temporary delays are expected. Estimated cost, $565,000.
JULY – AUGUST
Alexandria: County Road 106 from 50th Avenue to CSAH 46 will have turn lane construction and an overlay applied. Minor, temporary traffic delays are expected. Estimated cost, $332,000.
Solem: CSAH 15 at Lake Oscar Outlet will have a temporary detour while 30-inch concrete pipe is installed to replace existing 18-inch pipe. Estimated cost, $310,000.
SEPTEMBER – OCTOBER
Millerville: The bridge at Mill Pond Outlet on Chippewa River in Millerville Township (bridge number L0202) will be replaced. Traffic will be impacted by a detour route. Estimated cost, $394,000.
Alexandria: The bridge on County Road 111 at Geneva/L'Homme Dieu channel will be replaced with a box culvert. A detour route will be in place. Estimated cost, $250,000.
